About Tonight’s Game: This evening’s Wawa Sunshine Cup Series match-up features the Florida Everblades and the Orlando Solar Bears.  On Friday, the Everblades clinched the Wawa Sunshine Cup for the consecutive straight season for winning the head-to-head regular season series matchup with Orlando. Florida currently leads the overall series 16 points to 5 points.

Playoff Scenarios: Tonight the ‘Blades can clinch a playoff spot with a win or an overtime/shootout loss.  Essentially, Florida needs to collect a point in the standings this evening.   The ‘Blades can also clinch tonight with a Cincinnati loss at Alaska, or if South Carolina loses in regulation against Greenville (75 pts).   The Everblades enter tonight with a 12-point lead over second place Greenville.  The Solar Bears (69 pts) currently sit in the fourth and final playoff position in the division, but holds a slim two-point edge over fifth place South Carolina (67 pts).

Last Time Out:   Florida raced out to a fast 3-0 first period advantage, but the Solar Bears chipped away at the lead to pull within one early in the third period.  Orlando outshot the ‘Blades 12-3 in the final stanza, but goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic made several key saves down the stretch to preserve the 3-2 victory for Florida.

About the Everblades:  Brendan O’Donnell netted his 36th goal of the season in last night’s game. With the goal, O’Donnell now leads the league in goals scored.  O’Donnell also leads Florida in scoring against Orlando this season with 14 points (7g, 7a)….Despite some solid opportunities last night, Stephen MacAulay saw his impressive goal scoring streak end at four games…Goaltender Anthony Peters is second in the league with 28 wins and is expected to start this evening.Everblades Team Leaders
