2009-10: Made his professional debut with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL. He joins the Florida Everblades after appearing in 22 regular season games for the Grizzlies, notching 7 goals and 6 assists. January 3, 2010 was placed on the 3-day injured reserve. 01/05/09 Transfered to the 7-day IR. January 12, 2010 Moved to the 21-day IR.
2008-09: Battled a wrist injury during his senior season. He only appeared in 30 games, but tallied a career high 27 points (13 g, 14 a).
2007-08: During his junior season Guthrie lead the team with five game-winning goals. He recorded 9 goals and 13 assists in 38 games.
2006-07: Had a six game point streak during his second year with the Golden Knights. He  posted points in games from October 14, through November 11. Scored the game winning goal against Lake Superior State  in the Badger Showdown.
2005-06: Joined the Clarkson Golden Knights. He played in 33 games his freshman year, tallying 9 goals and 17 assists with a career high 60 penalty minutes. Was a member of the ECAC All-Rookie team.
2005: Was selected in the third round of the NHL draft by the New York Islanders seventy sixth overall.
