Joe Cox named to roster for 2019 CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic

ESTERO, Fla. — Florida Everblades forward and alternate captain Joe Cox was named to the Eastern Conference roster for the 2019 CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic, the ECHL announced on Monday.

In his second full season with the Everblades, Cox has posted 13 goals and 33 points in 35 games and is second in the ECHL in plus-minus rating at a +25. He has 87 points (35g-52a) in 110 career games with Florida.

A native of Chelsea, Michigan, Cox led ‘Blades rookies and finished fifth among ECHL rookies with his 54 points (22g-32a) in the 2017-18 campaign. He tabbed 13 multi-point games as a rookie last year and has 20 multi-point games in his career with Florida.

Prior to turning professional, Cox, 25, played four seasons with Michigan State University from 2013-17 and captained the Spartans in his senior season in 2016-17. He registered 69 career points (28g-41a) in 143 games with MSU, including a career-best 23-point campaign in the 2015-16 season, a season in which he also served as an alternate captain.

For the second consecutive year, the CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic will feature a 3-on-3 tournament with four teams competing for the top spot. New in 2019, the host team will make up two of the four teams and face-off against the other two teams made up of All-Star players from the Eastern and Western Conference. These four teams will compete in a 3-on-3 tournament with rally scoring in order to crown a winner.
