Florida Everblades Captain Mathieu Roy has agreed to terms with the Tonsberg Vikings in Norway for the 2014-15 season. This announcement signals the end to a memorable six-year career for Roy with the Everblades.
The fan-favorite Roy served as captain for three seasons, which includes a Kelly Cup Championship in 2012. Roy led the ECHL in scoring with 89 points during the 2012-13 campaign, which also landed him with team MVP honors.
On March 8 2014, in a game against the Gwinnett Gladiators, Roy became the Everblades' All-Time leader in games played. The game was number 353 in Roy's career, passing 'Blades great Ernie Hartlieb. Roy ended the 2013-14 season currently sitting at 374 games played with the Everblades
The Amos, Quebec native also became the team's all-time leader in power play goals with 40. Roy passes Hartlieb and Kevin Baker who each finished with 33 power play markers.
Roy currently ranks third in points (292), second in goals (133). fourth in assists (159), and first in penalty minutes (560) on the Everblades all-time leaders board.
