NORFOLK, Va. — The American Hockey League’s Charlotte Checkers have assigned forward Steven Lorentz to the Florida Everblades, the team announced Wednesday.
A second-year pro, Lorentz played in three games after being recalled to the Checkers and tabbed his first career AHL point, an assist, in his second career stint with Charlotte.
The Waterloo, Ontario, native has suited up in 10 games with Florida this season and was averaging more than a point per game prior to being recalled to Charlotte. In his two most recent games with the ‘Blades, Lorentz had a pair of multi-point outings against the Jacksonville Icemen on Nov. 9-10, tabbing two goals and two assists in the two-game series. Lorentz, who stands at 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 201 pounds, has 11 points (4g, 7a) with the Everblades this season.
As a rookie in the 2017-18 season, Lorentz totaled 35 points (12g, 23a) in 62 games with Florida. He also made his first appearance with Charlotte a year ago, seeing ice time in three games for the Checkers.
Florida starts a three-game series with the Norfolk Admirals on Wednesday night at the Norfolk Scope. Faceoff for the series opener is set for 7 p.m.
