GREENVILLE, S.C. – After two consecutive losses to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits on Friday and Saturday, the Florida Everblades aim to take game three of the series Sunday afternoon at 3:05 p.m. at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
Saturday’s 3-2 overtime loss was the result of three unanswered Swamp Rabbit goals after the Blades initially took a 2-0 lead in the second period. Greenville then leveled the game in the middle frame, before a scoreless third sent the game to overtime. Bobby Russell then netted the winner four and a half minutes into the extra period.
Zach Tsekos and Wilmer Skoog were the lamplighters for the Everblades on Saturday night. Tsekos potted his second goal of the season while Skoog scored his first professional goal.
That game was the second time this season the Blades have gone to overtime. The first of those was the season opener, where Florida took a shootout victory over Orlando.
The Swamp Rabbits are off to a 7-1 record to start the season, the best in franchise history. That includes a perfect 6-0 record at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
While the Everblades did earn a point with the overtime loss, they look to get back in the W column for the first time since Nov. 1 over the Solar Bears.
