ESTERO, Fla – A three-goal third period exploded the Florida Everblades into a convincing position last night, as the team took a 5-1 win over the South Carolina Stingrays to begin March. Now, the Blades retake the ice for game two of a three-game series against South Carolina, with puck drop scheduled for 6:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum.
Mark Senden tallied two goals just minutes apart in the third period to help extend Florida’s lead down the stretch, but he wasn’t the only Everblades with a multi-point night. Logan Lambdin scored the game’s opening goal, then assisted on Senden’s first tally. Finally, rookie Brett Davis dished out two assists.
The win catapults the Everblades (28-15-9) into third place of the South Division, directly ahead of the Stingrays (31-20-3). The two teams are level at 65 points, but Florida in front due to holding two games in hand.
Saturday’s meeting is the second leg of a three-game in three days set between the Blades and Rays. That series wraps up tomorrow afternoon in a 3:05 p.m. puck drop on Mar. 3. Florida and South Carolina will meet once more this month back in Charleston on Mar. 16.
