Blades Blueprint: Jesse Lansdell
By: Camille Frick
As the Florida Everblades build on their historic three-peat, returning forward, Jesse Lansdell aims to be a contributing factor in their blueprint to success as he enters his first full rookie season with the Everblades.
“To be able to you know, come in there and get integrated into the team and be a part of that success was just awesome,” said Lansdell.
With a full understanding of the differences between college and professional hockey, Lansdell is shifting his focus toward mental preparation and ensuring his individual training sets him up to compete against more experienced opponents.
While this consists of everyday workouts on and off the ice, he also has the bigger picture in mind:
Leading by example.
“I feel like I’m pretty ready for that challenge,” said Lansdell. “I think I can kind of relate to some of the new guys coming in if they’re you know, younger guys or whoever just kind of needs some help adjusting…”
With a roster different from last season’s Kelly Cup-winning team, there’s a need to preserve Everblades culture through the coach’s training dynamic while also helping new talent integrate what they bring to the table, which is the role Lansdell intends to fill.
“I feel like I can definitely help them out a little bit or just lead by example,” said Lansdell.
Lansdell also acknowledges that being committed to the Blades’ blueprint means being the best he can be for the upcoming season, which is why he continues his offseason efforts with intentions of offering on-ice versatility
“Just keep getting better physically, protecting the puck, moving the puck, advancing zones, and obviously having a bit of a more shooting mindset when the opportunity presents itself,” he said.
Ultimately, Lansdell’s role for the Everblades 2024-2025 season is simple but significant:
“…help the team wherever they think that I can help them and just be ready for the opportunity...”
