AHL's Springfield Thunderbirds Sends Down Chau, Johnson, Theisen

ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s St. Louis Blues and the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds announced that forwards Oliver Chau and Colin Theisen, along with goaltender Cam Johnson, have been reassigned to the Florida Everblades by the Springfield Thunderbirds. 

Chau, 27, a native of Oakville, Ontario, enters his third season with the Everblades after joining the club in the 2022-23 season. Last season, Chau appeared in 70 contests with the Everblades, posting 26 goals and 34 assists for 60 points. He also appeared in 23 postseason games, adding nine goals matched by 14 assists for 23 points. Prior to his professional career, Chau played collegiate hockey at the University of Massachusetts and Quinnipiac University, where he recorded a combined 41 goals and 76 assists over 177 games.

Theisen, 27, a native of Monroe, Michigan, joins his first full season with the Everblades. Prior to joining the club, Theisen appeared in 80 regular-season contests with the AHL’s Tucson Roadrunners and 12 with the Atlanta Gladiators where he tallied a combined total of 22 goals and 30 assists for three seasons. He also appeared in two postseason games with the Roadrunners, contributing one goal. Theisen is a product of the University of Notre Dame and Arizona State University, where he amassed 52 goals and 63 assists over 179 NCAA games.

Cam Johnson, 30, a native of Troy, Michigan, enters his sixth season with the Everblades after joining the club in the 2019-20 season. Last season, Johnson posted a 2.21 goals-against-average and a 0.921 save percentage in 49 regular-season contests. He also contributed a 1.88 goals-against-average and a .932 save percentage in 23 appearances for the 2023-24 postseason. Johnson, a University of North Dakota alum, saw time on the NHL’s New Jersey Devils roster in the 2018-19 season and has played over 210 professional games in both the AHL and ECHL.
