ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s St. Louis Blues and the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds, announced the acquisition of forward Kyle Betts from the Utah Grizzlies in exchange for forwards Reed Lebster and Matthew Wedman.
Betts, 27, but wearing the number 26, joins the Blades after splitting his time between the Grizzlies and the AHL’s Belleville Senators last season. Launching his professional career in Utah during the 2021-22 season, Betts recorded one goal and one assist in five regular season contests before transitioning between leagues to tally seven goals and 16 assists for 23 points over four consecutive seasons.
A native of Flesherton, Ontario, Betts spent five seasons playing Junior hockey for the Grey-Bruce Highlanders, the Waterloo Siskins and the Powell River Kings before playing four years of collegiate hockey at Cornell University, amassing 17 goals and 31 assists across 125 NCAA contests.
This trade aims to strengthen the Blades’ lineup as they hunt for not only another historic season but another Kelly Cup Title, building on their championship-caliber roster.
