NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Florida Everblades are back on the ice tonight Saturday, November 2nd at a 7:05 p.m. for their final road game as they hunt for redemption following a 3-0 loss in last night's matchup against the South Carolina Stingrays.
The Blades faced an uphill battle last night as the Stingrays took an early lead and held Florida to a 4-16 shot disadvantage going into the first intermission. This was fueled by an active presence in the penalty box with five collective penalties between both teams in the opening frame.
The Stingrays began to capitalize on the man advantage and tallied two consecutive powerplay goals to extend their lead to three nearing the final minutes of the second period.
In a physical third period and Blades goaltender Cam Johnson pulled for an extra attacker, Jesse Lansdell found the back of the net to put the Blades on the board with 21 seconds left in the game. However, the goal was overturned due to a distinct kicking motion, leaving the Blades scoreless, but leading in shots 36-27 and amassing a total of nine penalties in 60 minutes.
Last night marked the Blades' first loss of the season, bringing their record to 4-1-0. Heading into tonight’s game, they’ll aim to cut down on penalties and ignite their offense to build on the momentum sparked by Lansdell’s overturned goal late in the third period before heading back to The Swamp next week.
