GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Florida Everblades are set to face the Greenville Swamp Rabbits today, November 16 at 4:05 p.m. in their first of a two-game series before heading back to The Swamp. Following their 5-2 win over the Atlanta Gladiators, the Blades now hold a three-game winning streak and aim to extend it come puck drop.
In the Gladiators’ Gas South Arena, Tyler Kobryn opened the scoring early in the first period, setting the tone for the game and scoring his second goal in back-to-back contests. However, Atlanta forward Michael Marchesan and defenseman Andrew Jarvis responded with a goal each to take a 2-1 lead in the second period.
The script was flipped when rookie Kade Landry netted his first professional goal to knot the score at 2-2 after 40. Building off second-period momentum, Kyle Betts scored to give the Blades a one-goal lead which was soon extended by two consecutive goals from Colin Theisen.
The Blades put the Gladiators away in a 5-1 victory with goaltender Will Cranley turning away 23 of 25 shot attempts compared to Atlanta goaltender turning away just 22 of 27 shot attempts.
The Blades currently hold an 8-2-0 record for the 2024-25 season, placing them second in overall league standings. Meanwhile, the Swamp Rabbits sit at 8-4-3, positioned 20th overall. In terms of special teams, the Swamp Rabbits rank 16th in power play and 4th in penalty killing, while the Blades are 25th in power play and 19th in penalty killing.
This will be the first time the two teams faceoff since the 2023-24 regular season. Despite both teams qualifying for the playoffs, the Swamp Rabbits suffered a first-round exit to the Orlando Solar Bears where the Blades went on to claim their third consecutive Kelly Cup.
