ESTERO, Fla. – After their dominant 4-1 victory over the Orlando Solar Bears last night, the Florida Everblades will face the Jacksonville Icemen tonight, Saturday, December 14 at 7:00 p.m., in Jacksonville’s VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena to wrap up the last of the in-state rivalry matches before returning home.
Carson Gicewicz continued his point streak that started on Wednesday night, opening up the scoring with an unassisted slapshot to acquire three points in two straight contests and maintain his lead in points with 22. Logan Lambdin remains at 19 points to remain in third, trailing Colton Hargrove, who also stayed stagnant since Wednesday night, remaining at 20.
Former Solar Bear Marc-Andre Gaudet followed behind Gicewicz to extend the lead, register his first goal as an Everblade and stand as the only defenseman to pick up a point.
Orlando responded with a lone goal, but Isaac Nurse quickly answered for the Blades with his first professional goal — an unassisted breakaway that not only gave the Blades a commanding advantage but also marked a significant milestone in his career.
Alex Kile sealed the deal, netting his first goal since the Fort Wayne series to put Orlando away and claim his 11th point, one ahead of Kyle Betts who served as a helper in the goal.
The Icemen’s top offensive power consists of David Koch who leads his team with 15 points, trailed by one from Christopher Brown with 14. Behind them stands Garret Van Wyhe, Ivan Chukarov and Robert Calisti as the top blue liners, Wyhe leading with 12 with Chukarov and Calisti tied for second with eight.
Like the Blades, Jacksonville is coming off a game from last night but unlike the Blades, they suffered a 3-0 shutout by the Atlanta Gladiators.
The Icemen currently sit 13th in overall team standings, ranking 12th in penalty killing and 27th on the power play, while the Blades are currently ranked 10th in penalty killing, 13th on the power play and first overall.
