ESTERO, Fla. – Five goals and three multi-point nights from the Florida Everblades powered them to a 5-2 victory over the Savannah Ghost Pirates before facing off in the series decider Saturday, January 18, at 7:00 p.m.

The Other Side: The Savannah Ghost Pirates, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers, currently rank 15th in the league standings with a record of 19-15-2-0 following their victory in The Swamp. Former Everblade, Dennis Cesana still leads Savannah with 35 points from 11 goals and 24 assists, while Reece Vitelli trails by just three points, currently sitting at 32 with 8 goals and 24 assists, after adding another assist on Wednesday night. The Ghost Pirates have 119 goals against, earned two overtime wins, suffered two overtime losses and carry a 52.80 win percentage.

Last Time Out: In a swift change of pace, Florida jumped out to an early lead over the Pirates after Colin Theisen blasted a one timer from the right circle to set the tone on a power play. Gary Haden found the back of the net soon after when a loose puck in the crease turned into a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission. However, the Blades’ momentum was interrupted 4:49 into the middle frame when Ross Armour brought the score within one on a five-on-three. Carson Gicewicz returned the favor just under four minutes later with a rebound that would mark the end of 40 minutes with the Blades up 3-1. Three goals were scored in the final stanza, two Florida goals, another one netted by Gicewicz while Connor Doherty claimed the empty net, split by a single Savannah goal bringing the final score to a lopsided 5-2 by the final whistle. 

Triple Threat Part Two!: In Wednesday night’s 2-1 loss, only three Everblades earned points, but in their 5-2 victory last night, eleven players made their mark on the scoreboard and three of them registered multi-point nights. Previously, this section belonged to Jesse Lansdell, Cole Moberg, and Gary Haden, but now it goes out to Connor Doherty, Carson Gicewicz, and Jordan Sambrook. Gicewicz takes the cake with three points, scoring two consecutive goals and adding an assist, marking his eighth multi-point performance of the 2024-25 season. Meanwhile, blueliners Sambrook and Doherty mirrored each other with two points. Sambrook had a hand in the first goal of the game and assisted on Gicewicz’s first, while Doherty secured the empty-net goal and added an assist in the first period.

Blades Series Stats & Trends: The Florida Everblades have remained undefeated in all of their seven three-game series this season. Of these (not including the current series), the Blades won six of the first games, with three of those victories being decided by just one goal. However, they have suffered three losses in Game 2 across the series, but are remained perfect in Game 3, winning all of them. Including the current one series, the Blades have an impressive 11-2 record on home-ice within a series.
