ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades begin their biggest series of the year on Wednesday, February 26 at 7:30 p.m. against their archrivals, the South Carolina Stingrays.

Florida is seven points ahead of South Carolina for first place in the South Division, though the Stingrays have a game in hand. Florida has held sole possesion of first place in the division since December 13.

The Everblades’ seven game winning streak came to an abrupt end last Saturday against the Tahoe Knight Monsters in a 6-2 setback. Despite the loss, the Everblades still stand as the ECHL’s strongest team since the All-Star Break, with a 10-2-2-1 record in that time. 

South Carolina last played on Sunday, grabbing a 3-0 win over the Worcester Railers. Garin Bjorklund made 23 saves in the win, which helped him be named as the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week. The Washington Capitals prospect won both his starts with a 0.50 goals against average and .980 save percentage. 

Florida and South Carolina have played five times this season, with the Stingrays emerging victorious from three of those matchups. The last meeting came on January 24, where South Carolina eked out a 3-2 shootout win over the Everblades. Colin Theisen and Logan Lambdin both have three points in the season series to lead the team.
