ESTERO, Fla. – Returning to Hertz Arena, the Florida Everblades welcome the Greenville Swamp Rabbits to the Swamp for a three-game set, starting Wednesday, February 5 at 7:30 p.m.
Florida lost back-to-back games for the first time this season this Friday, dropping two overtime games to the Orlando Solar Bears on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, Tarun Fizer scored the only goal for the Everblades in a 2-1 setback, while on Sunday, Florida came back from down two to earn a point but fell 5-4 in the extra frame. Florida is now tied with the Toledo Walleye for first place in the ECHL with a 29-8-5-1 record. Fizer scored two goals on Sunday and is on a four-game point streak.
Greenville, last year’s South Division winner, currently sits in the basement of the South Division with a 17-19-3-2 record, though they are on a two-game winning streak. Both those wins came on a road trip against the Indy Fuel, with wins of 4-3 and 5-2 scores. Forward Tate Singleton scored a hat trick in both matchups.
The two South Division rivals have played two games already this season up in Greenville. The first matchup November 16 was Florida’s most dominant victory this year—a six-goal first period and Carson Gicewicz hat trick combined with a Cam Johnson shutout for an 8-0 victory. The Everblades were unable to follow it up the next afternoon—despite outshooting Greenville 49-29, the Swamp Rabbits held on for a narrow 3-2 win.
