BLADES CAN CLINCH PLAYOFF SPOT WEDNESDAY

ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades can clinch a playoff spot with a regulation win over the Savannah Ghost Pirates on Wednesday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m. on the St. Patrick’s Day Tribute Night.

If the Everblades do win in regulation, they would become the first team to clinch a spot in the 2025 Kelly Cup Playoffs, and first team to clinch a postseason berth in any of the three affiliated professional hockey leagues in North America. The South Carolina Stingrays can also clinch a playoff berth Wednesday with a win and an Everblades win. Florida sits one point ahead of the Stingrays for first place in the South Division.

Florida brought home three of six points from Norfolk on their last trip against the Norfolk Admirals. The Everblades lost the rubber match 3-2 in overtime despite outshooting Norfolk 32-19 in regulation. Alex Kile has been the Everblades leader over the last two weeks, currently riding a six-game point streak including an assist on Saturday. Isaac Nurse has goals in back-to-back games entering action against the Ghost Pirates. 

Savannah, meanwhile, has gone winless in their last six games. With this slump, the Ghost Pirates are now 17 points out of a playoff spot, with four games in hand on the Orlando Solar Bears. Forward Reece Vitelli leads Savannah with 51 points this season, closely followed by former Everblade Dennis Cesana who has 50 this year. 

Throughout the game, there is a St. Baldrick’s Foundation Head Shaving Event to help in the fight against childhood cancer. The team that raises the most funds will be announced during 1st intermission and will take home a signed Everblades jersey, St. Baldricks trophy, and medal.
