ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades look to remain perfect on the current four-game road trip as they face the Greenville Swamp Rabbits for the final time in the 2024-25 season. Wednesday night’s matchup is slated to get underway with a 7:05 p.m. puck drop inside Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

Florida skates into Greenville rested, following off a convincing 4-2 road victory over the Orlando Solar Bears Saturday night. The good guys rallied from a 2-0 deficit after one period with four unanswered goals, including three tallies in third period to seal the victory. The Blades obliterated Orlando in the shot department, topping the Solar Bears 38-15, thanks to a 24-8 edge in the final 40 minutes.

Greenville enters play following a 5-3 loss to the Kansas City Mavericks on Sunday, closing out the three-game series with a 1-1-1 mark against the Mountain Division leaders. The Swamp Rabbits are just 2-7-1-0 in their last 10 games.

This season, the Everblades hold a 3-2 edge over the Swamp Rabbits in the series, including a 1-1 mark in the only other set played in Greenville. Florida posted an 8-0 victory in the Palmetto State on November 16, while Greenville took a 3-2 win the following night. In early February, the Blades took two of three from the Bunnies at Hertz Arena, following up a 3-0 loss on February 5 with a 4-2 win two days later and a 3-2 triumph in the teams’ last meeting on February 8.

Against the Swamp Rabbits this season, Carson Gicewicz leads the Everblades in all three offensive categories,  having notched eight points on five goals and three assists. Captain Oliver Chau sits right behind Gicewicz with six points on four goals and two helpers. A total of 22 different players have notched at least one point for the Blades in the first five games versus Greenville.  In goal, Cam Johnson is a perfect 3-0 with a 1.33 GAA, while Will Cranley stands 0-2 despite posting a strong 2.56 GAA as the Everblades scored a combined two goals in his first two starts.

On the playoff front, the Everblades remain in a tight race to earn the top seed in the South Division, as they sit in second place with 88 points, one point behind South Carolina which leads the pack with 91 points. Florida has just 11 regular-season games left on the schedule, while the Stingrays have 10. Jacksonville sits in third place with 82 points, six behind the Everblades, while fourth-place Orlando has 76 points and a 17-point lead over the rest of the pack.

Greenville, on the other hand, is currently in seventh place in the South, four points behind Savannah and five points shy of Atlanta with 11 games left to play. The Swamp Rabbits would be eliminated from playoff contention if Orlando earns one more point in the South Division standings.

Looking ahead, the Everblades will visit the Savannah Ghost Pirates for a pair on Thursday and Friday, with puck drop slated for 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 respectively. The Blades will open a three-game homestand at Hertz Arena on Wednesday, March 26 versus the Jacksonville Icemen at 7:30 p.m.  Visit floridaeverblades.com for more information and to purchase tickets.
