ESTERO, Fla. – Fresh off a thrilling 4-3 overtime victory over the Savannah Ghost Pirates on Thursday, the Florida Everblades are looking to close out a perfect four-game road trip as they meet the Pirates once again Friday night.

Thursday night’s dramatic victory saw the Everblades respond to three different Savannah goals with a trio of game-tying goals, including two in the third period. While the Blades were unable to take a lead in 60 minutes of regulation, it only took the good guys 59 seconds into overtime to grab their first lead and seal a third-straight road win, reclaiming first place in the ECHL South Division. Oliver Chau’s game-winner in the first minute of bonus hockey closed out a three-point night for the Everblades team captain.

With the victory, Florida improved to 3-0 on the current road trip which concludes with Friday’s rematch in Savannah. The Everblades now hold a 6-2 record versus the Ghost Pirates in the season series, including a 3-0 record at Enmarket Arena. Thursday’s victory clinched the season series for the Blades as the teams have three more meetings this season, all slated to be played in Savannah.

Carson Gicewicz will look to extend his current point streak to eight games, which would be the longest by an Everblade this season. With his third period goal that forced overtime on Thursday, Gicewicz has registered eight points on five goals and three assists during his current streak. An eight-game point streak would move Gicewicz past Colin Theisen, who also had a seven-game point streak from December 27 through January 10, the longest by an Everblade this season.

Thursday’s victory moved the Everblades (42-13-7-1) one point ahead of idle South Carolina (43-14-3-2) and into first place in the South Division. With 92 points, the Blades nudged ahead of the Stingrays’ total of 91. Florida has nine regular-season games remaining, with the Rays have 10, including three games in three different cities over the next three days.

Following Friday night’s game, the Everblades return home to open a three-game homestand at Hertz Arena on Wednesday, March 26 versus the Jacksonville Icemen at 7:30 p.m.  Visit floridaeverblades.com for more information and to purchase tickets.
